Intro to Multi-Pitch Climbing

Clinic Description

If you've ever been climbing in single pitch terrain, clipped the anchor and just wanted to go higher, this clinic is for you. Drawing from techniques familiar to single pitch climbing as well as some new systems, this clinic will focus on getting you and your climbing partner up and down multiple-pitch climbs efficiently and safely. We'll focus on routes up to Grade III.

Sport Lead Climbing

Clinic Description

Been to the gym and looking for the next adventure? Maybe you have top-roped outside but are craving the sharp end? Take that next step and learn to lead! This clinic introduces participants to lead climbing fundamentals in a sport or fixed protection setting (bolts, etc.). Equipment use, leading principals, anchors, route setup and cleaning are all discussed and practiced. Participants will lead climb in a mock-lead top rope environment.

This is an intensive clinic designed to help climbers break into new levels of difficulty in a single pitch environment. CAMP athlete Ben Rueck, who helped develop the curriculum, credits his growth as a climber to learning and understanding the art of project. The curriculum is designed to put a structure behind projecting that can be used to dissect and accomplish our objectives, covering emotional, mental, and physical parts of the process.

Aid Climbing: How to Approach a Big Wall

This clinic discusses self-rescue principals specific to bottom up rock climbing situations (top rope and single pitch lead climbing). Belay transfers, belay escapes and counter ascension/lowering skill sets are taught and practiced. Self-rescue involves the use of common tools and equipment that you might regularly have with you while out at the crag.
